Two days ago, I marinated this thinly sliced beef in the hottest stuff I could find in the house. I used chili oil, chili sauce, dried chilis, crushed red pepper, garlic powder and sesame oil. Tonight, I cut it into strips and stir-fried it with asparagus, scallions and water chestnuts. It was satisfyingly spicy, exactly what I was shooting for. Brown rice was perfect to temper the heat...and the eggs.

Yum! The hotter the better I always say! Looks wonderful and easy too!
Thank you! Christine- I have been reading your blog, which is great! You food looks fantastic, I am not nearly as ambitious as you. This dish was hot, but not as hot as you would think after marinating for two days in all of that hot spice!
I think that would be a little to hot for me, but the whole combination looked good.
Yikes! My eyes are watering just reading about the prep.
really not that hot - as I am eating it for lunch right now as a leftover - but still awesome :)
It's plenty hot BUT not as hot as it could be. I don't know personally if I'd like it hotter, but I would like to know why it wasn't fiery after sitting in all of those spices.
This looks yummy to me!
My husband will adore this, and I will, too, as long as I have a Zantac first. I like hot stuff when its hot out, I like everything that's in this, and I enjoy your blog tremendously, Thanks!!
